COVID 19 Updates

Northwestern Qatar community members are recommended to keep up to date with the latest information on Qatar’s Travel and Return policies that can be found here.

  • Students, faculty, and staff are highly recommended to be fully vaccinated, which is defined as receiving one or two primary series shots, depending on the type of vaccination. A booster shot is not required.
  • Face masks are no longer mandatory; however, they are recommended for anyone vulnerable or with a chronic condition, when you are near people who may have symptoms, or when you are in crowded or poorly ventilated areas.
  • Social distancing is no longer required.
  • If you are diagnosed with Covid-19 you are expected to isolate for five days and can leave isolation without testing but should wear a well-fitting mask for an additional five days. Please see  MOPH guidance for further information.
  • The Northwestern Qatar Infectious Disease Plan includes emergency response protocols in case of incidents of suspected positive cases in the Northwestern Qatar building.
  • Please continue to take personal responsibility to protect yourself and others. If you feel sick or are in close contact with a COVID case, stay home, and seek medical advice.
  • Close contact cases are not required to isolate but are recommended to test if you are at high risk of developing severe symptoms e.g., immunocompromised, or have a chronic condition, and should wear a face mask for 10 days.
  • Please contact NU-Q HSSE should you require further information.
