Student Housing

Northwestern Qatar students may elect to live in dormitories on Education City campus, managed by Qatar Foundation. Housing is single-gender with designated areas that are gender-neutral.

Housing Options

1. Apartments

On-campus apartment buildings contain studios, and one- and two-bedroom units with kitchenettes.

2. Residence Halls

On-campus residence halls contain one-bedroom units without kitchenette.

Furniture/Amenities

  • All housing units are fully furnished, including bedding, wired and wireless Internet access, a television, electronic whiteboard
  • All residents have a private bedroom and bathroom 
  • All rooms have smart-room technology, allowing residents to control temperature and lighting simply by entering the room
  • The furniture is modular to encourage students to personalize their space
  • Student housing provides ample communal lounges, prayer rooms, study areas and laundry facilities
  • Students have access to a free, on-campus tram that goes to other buildings in Education City

Apply for Housing

Note: All newly admitted students must submit the housing interest form that can be accessed through the Student Experience portal.

Rooms are allocated on a first come, first served basis. First-year students can start the Housing application process as soon as they receive their official acceptance from Northwestern Qatar. Do not delay in applying for your space.

  1. Once you have been accepted to Northwestern Qatar, complete the housing interest form. Northwestern Qatar will provide QF Housing student housing with your detailed information, which will be entered into our online system.
  2. You will receive a message on your Northwestern email account directly from Qatar Foundation (QF) Housing. In this message, you will find a link to the QF Housing application portal, as well as instructions on how to set up your account in the portal.
  3. Once you set up your account in the portal, complete the housing application. To successfully submit the application, you will be asked to attach the following supporting documentation:
    • Recent Photograph
    • Scanned color copy of your passport
    • Proof of payment of housing deposit, which is $550 and can be submitted online through the Student Experience portal.

The assigning of housing will begin in mid-June and we will likely have placements completed by the first week in August. You will receive notification of your placement and details of your roommate/apartment mate via the email provided in your application.

Note: You may indicate your housing preference at the time of application. Housing units are assigned based on availability with preference given to returning students. Any financial aid offered to cover the cost of housing will be calculated based on Residence Hall Room costs; any difference is covered by students

Students are required to check-in to their assigned room within one week of the start of the fall/spring semester, and within 48 hours for the summer semester. Failing to meet this requirement will be considered as a no-show. Any requests to arrive prior to this time must be submitted to the Northwestern Qatar Student Experience team at studentexperience@qatar.northwestern.edu
