Certificate, Strategic Communication: Curriculum
The Strategic Communication Certificate Program enhances student learning in applied communication and broadens the scope of the major with marketing communications, public relations, advertising, corporate communication, and digital communication skills.
Note: Courses may not be offered every semester. You should consult early with your academic adviser to plan a course of study. The Strategic Communication certificate is only available to students admitted prior to the fall 2021 term.
Certificate requirements (4 units):
3 core courses:
- StratCom 303 - Introduction to Strategic Communications
- StratCom 305 - Corporate Storytelling
- StratCom 320 - Strategic Communication Campaigns. Capstone project.
1 elective course to choose from the following:
- StratCom 306 - Media Planning (typically offered in Summer)
- StratCom 307- Digital, Social and Mobile Marketing (typically offered in Fall)
- JOUR 390‐0 Global Perspectives in Strategic Communication (this is a summer travel course to Cannes Lions Creativity Festival, France)
Additionally, to be eligible for the Strategic Communication Certificate, the following conditions apply:
- The 3 core courses must be completed at NU‐Q
- The elective course must be completed at NU‐Q
- Courses must be graded. Pass/No credit classes may not be used
- Grades of C‐ or better are required for all Strategic Communication Certificate courses.
