Independent Studies
399 Independent Studies are available, by petition, to juniors and seniors who have a B or better average. As the title implies, such work involves the independent investigation of topics not normally covered by the curriculum. Independent studies must involve careful faculty supervision and typically culminate in a written report.
In rare cases, exceptions are made to the grade point average and class-level requirements. Recent grades, the nature of the work and the special circumstances are important considerations in these cases.
Students are allowed to take only two independent studies during their academic career.
