Northwestern Qatar provides students with free access to various software programs.
Software provided on NU-Q laptops
- MacOS Monterey
- Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
- Firefox
- Global Protect VPN
- Google Chrome
- Lockdown Browser
- Microsoft Office 365 - Log in to northwestern.edu using a valid NetID and NetID password, click the install button, and follow the directions from Microsoft. If prompted with a secondary login screen, use <NetID>@ads.northwestern.edu as the login name and your NetID password as the password.

Self Service
Self Service for macO is an application installed on NU-Q IT -provided Apple computers aimed at allowing students, staff, and faculty to install common applications, run commands, and install Mac App Store Apps required for their time at NU-Q. Users can also run updates pushed by NU-Q IT to keep software up to date.
Where is Self Service located on my Mac?
You can find the Self Service application on your Mac computer by navigating to:
Finder → Applications → Self Service.

LinkedIn Learning Library
LinkedIn Learning is a web-site that provides tutorials and how-to videos on a variety of topics. Northwestern students can access this site for free:
- Go to LinkedIn Learning .
- Enter edu into the provided field.
- Log in with your Northwestern NetID and password.
