Locker Policy

NUQ 1-322 and 1-323 and Ground Floor Locker Rooms

All enrolled NU-Q students are eligible for use of a locker to provide a place to store their belongings while attending classes. Lockers are assigned for a maximum of 10 months (August-May). Students are expected to vacate their lockers at the end of spring semester so they can be cleaned.

Lockers may also be made available on a case-by-case basis for June and July terms or special courses, subject to availability.

Locker keys must be turned in no later than the last day of the spring semester. Failure to meet this deadline may result in forfeiture of future use and disposal of any items remaining in the lockers. Failure to return the locker key will result in a 150QR charge.

No person shall store in a locker: knives, guns, ammunition, weapons of any kind, explosives, prohibited, illegal, illicit items & substances or other items deemed by the University to be harmful, offensive or inappropriate.

Students are entitled to reasonable privacy concerning the use of a locker. However, the University reserves a right to access lockers at its sole discretion if there is a suspected security risk or there is an environmental concern such as pest control or odors. Security has the right to enter a locker at any time should they suspect it contains items that put the University environment in danger. Any criminal activity will be reported to police. The University is required to provide police with access in the event of a criminal investigation.

Vandalism

Any students caught vandalizing lockers will be subject to the current disciplinary policies set forth in the Student Discipline Policy.

Theft

The University is not responsible for any items stored in your locker at NUQ. You are responsible for your property, so the use of lockers is at your own risk.

NU-Q assumes no liability for any items stored in lockers.

Be sure to exercise caution and do not store items of value in your locker, such as purses, wallets, laptops, cameras or music players. Never store important items overnight.

Student Annual Locker Cleanout and Termination Cleanout

Students shall remove their locker contents upon their termination or program completion. During the annual student locker clean out occupants given 7 days’ notice to remove their lock and clean out the locker. If the locker is still locked after the 7-day notice period, the locker will be opened and contents will be emptied. Locker contents will be bagged in joint custody by two employees and stored for 30 days. All bags not claimed within 30 days will be discarded as follows:

Loss of a locker key will require a QR 150 charge for lock replacement.
