Student Position: Course Assistant 4 - MIT 220
Prof. Scott is looking for six Course Assistants (CAs) for MIT 220 (Fall 2025). Please read this carefully to see if you qualify. If you are still interested, see the "APPLY" section below. CAs must attend one of the sections below AND the screening. If you have a schedule conflict, you cannot be a CA, unfortunately.
Fall 2025 schedule
• Sec. 70: Sun/Tues 2:30-3:45
• Sec. 71: Sun/Tues 4:00-5:15
• Screening: Thurs 2:30-5:30
Responsibilities:
- Advising first-year students on the course and its assignments
- Acting as a writing tutor for first-year students in the course
- Assisting in keeping careful records of student attendance
- Providing feedback to the instructor on course development and assessment based on previous experience
- Designing Canvas learning modules at the instructor’s direction
- Scanning, photocopying, and uploading course materials
- Other administrative or support functions as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Good academic, integrity, and conduct standing
- Availability for the schedule above
- High score/grade in MIT 220 (higher scores will be given preference)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and writing skills
- An enthusiasm for the topic and for helping others
- Ability to multitask, initiate, and follow-through on projects, plan ahead, and manage time
- Knowledge of Canvas
- Attention to detail
- Capacity to work professionally with peers
