Student Position: Peer Facilitator
Seeking 5 to 6 qualified students for this position for our new program - First Year Writing Studios. Interested students should be willing and able to commit to working every Thursday throughout the Fall Term from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM (5 hours). Additional hours scheduled will be determined by individual preferences.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate weekly in-person 50-minute writing studio sessions every Thursday during fall term from August 28 to December 4. (Facilitation is done with co-facilitators and is for small groups of FYW students.)
- Attend a paid, 2-hour long pre-semester training.
- Attend weekly post-studio session meetings every Thursday.
- Establish weekly communication with FYW course instructors to synchronize weekly studio session plans.
- Help to plan and execute program activities.
- Hold weekly WCOnline hours open for bookings by writing studio students in your section.
- Requires a minimum of an 8 hour per week commitment. More hours could be negotiated.
Eligibility requirements:
- Are a junior or senior, in good academic standing with a 3.0 or higher term, major, distribution, and cumulative GPA. (In some cases, sophomores would be considered.)
- No past or pending academic integrity cases.
- No past or pending code of conduct violations and in good standing with the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- You are passionate about writing, peer-to-peer support, and contributing to a thriving writing community.
- Must be self-driven, proactive, and very reliable.
- Be curious with a positive non-judgmental attitude towards learning.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Exemplary ethics and integrity.
