Health, Safety, and Security

Northwestern Qatar is committed to maintaining a healthy, safe and secure work and study environment by offering programs, procedures, training and resources for faculty, staff and students.


Members of our community are encouraged to report all accidents, medical incidents, and threatening or concerning behavior within our campus. The latest Northwestern Qatar updates on COVID-19 can be found here. For further information on COVID-19, call the Qatar Ministry of Public Health Call Center 16000.

All concerns requiring immediate attention (criminal, violent, threatening, or imminent suicidal behavior) should be directed to Qatar Foundation Security by calling 4454 5247.

Security concerns should be reported to NU-Q security guards or, if you prefer, the nearest Campus Security Authority (CSA).

Student Health Insurance and Medical Care

Northwestern Qatar students can access health care within Education City or off campus. All students have access to QF Primary Healthcare Center (QF-PHCC) located at Multaqa (Student Center) and to public healthcare through the Qatar National Health System. Northwestern Qatar provided health insurance also gives students access to a network of healthcare providers.

Annual Crime and Safety Report

As provided by the [United States] Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990, now known as the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, you are entitled to request and receive a copy of Northwestern University's Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. This Report includes statistics for the previous 3 years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Northwestern University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from campus.

The Report also includes institutional policies concerning campus safety and security, such as policies on crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, emergency preparedness and other matters.
