Student Position: The Media Majlis Department Assistant 4

The Media Majlis is looking for enthusiastic NU-Q students to join the team for the Memememememes exhibition this fall! This is your chance to work in a vibrant museum environment, engage with visitors, and help bring exhibitions to life. 

Shift Requirements:

•  In exhibition and desk hours 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., with evening availability 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.(and occasional weekends)
• Location:  Media Majlis Museum, Northwestern University in Qatar
• Data Collection and Research: Conduct in-depth research to gather comprehensive data on schools, institutions, and community organizations in Qatar.
• Network Expansion: Identify potential partnerships and collaborations with schools and institutions to broaden the museum's outreach.
• Audience Development: Assist in creating strategies to increase school visits and general audience attendance at the museum.
• Database Management: Organize and maintain a detailed database of contacts and outreach efforts.
• Reporting: Prepare regular progress reports, presenting findings and actionable recommendations to the Front of House team.

Minimum Qualifications:

• This position is open to incoming first-year students, sophomores, juniors, and seniors at NU-Q.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to interact confidently and courteously with museum visitors of diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledge of Museum Exhibitions: Familiarity with the museum's current exhibitions and willingness to learn about new exhibitions as they rotate.
• Customer Service Orientation: Dedication to providing a welcoming and informative experience for all visitors, including answering questions and offering assistance.
• Tour Guiding Skills: Capability to conduct engaging and informative exhibition tours for individuals and small groups when requested.
• Flexibility in Schedule: Availability to work evening shifts and weekends as required by the museum's operating hours and special events.
• Attention to Detail: Careful observation skills to ensure the safety and security of museum exhibits and visitors.
• Team Collaboration: Willingness to work collaboratively with museum staff and other student workers to enhance the visitor experience and support museum operations.
• Adaptability: Ability to handle varied tasks, such as data collection, assisting with in-exhibition activities, and managing components within the exhibition space.
• Passion for Art and Culture: Interest in and appreciation for journalism, art, culture, technology and history, with a desire to share this passion with museum visitors.
• Professionalism: Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold museum policies and procedures at all times.

• Demonstrate an ability to multitask, work independently, initiate and follow-through on projects
• Individual must be able to plan and manage time
